Flipkart vs Amazon: The Better Phone Sale for Your Money?

India’s two biggest sales are now days away. Amazon’s Great Indian Festival begins on 8 October, and Flipkart’s Big Billion Days follows on 9 October, with early access on 8 October.

If you are planning to buy a phone, the obvious question is which sale gives you the better deal. The honest answer is that it depends on two things: which phone you want, and which bank card is in your wallet.

Both companies have now published real prices, so this is no longer a guessing game. Here is what is confirmed, what still carries an asterisk, and how to choose before 8 October.

Last updated 4 October 2026. Amazon and Flipkart have both named phones and prices since this guide was first published, and those confirmed figures are now in the tables below.

Sale Dates and Early Access

Amazon goes first. Its own newsroom says the Great Indian Festival begins on 8 October for all customers, and that early deals are already running ahead of that date. Amazon has not announced a separate Prime-only head start this year, so the 8 October date applies to everyone.

Flipkart’s Big Billion Days starts on 9 October. Flipkart Plus and Flipkart Black members, along with Flipkart credit card holders, get access a day early on 8 October.

So 8 October is the day both sales are effectively live. If you want a fair shot at limited-stock phone deals, that is the day to be ready, not 9 October.

Bank Offers: The Real Deciding Factor

For an expensive phone, the bank discount can matter more than the headline sale price. The two sales back different banks.

Amazon: SBI cards

Amazon is offering a 10 percent instant discount on SBI credit cards, debit cards and credit card EMI. Prime members also get up to 10 percent extra savings on top of the sale price.

There is one more layer. An Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card earns unlimited 5 percent cashback for Prime members and 3 percent for everyone else. That cashback arrives later, though, so it does not lower the amount you pay at checkout.

Flipkart: Axis Bank and ICICI Bank

Flipkart is offering a 10 percent instant discount on Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards.

Both discounts usually come with a maximum limit per transaction, which neither company has fully detailed yet. On a Rs 70,000 phone, that cap decides whether you actually save the full 10 percent.

The simple rule: if you have an SBI card, start with Amazon. If you have an Axis or ICICI card, start with Flipkart.

Which Phones Are Where

iPhones: check both, but Flipkart has shown its hand

Flipkart published its iPhone prices on 26 September, so the guesswork is over. According to Digit’s breakdown of the listings, the iPhone 17 256GB sits at Rs 84,999 during the sale, and the iPhone 15 at Rs 67,999.

Flipkart’s banner promised an iPhone 17 under Rs 80,000, and it does get there, but only after stacking. You need an ICICI or Axis card for Rs 2,000 off and a working old phone for up to Rs 3,000 of exchange bonus. That is how Rs 84,999 becomes Rs 79,999.

Amazon sells iPhones too, and it has teased an iPhone 16 deal without naming a price. Check both on the day before you buy.

Google Pixel: Flipkart

In India, Pixel phones are sold through Flipkart rather than Amazon, so Big Billion Days is the only sale that matters here. Flipkart has now confirmed the numbers: the Pixel 11 comes to Rs 69,999 from a Rs 89,999 listing, and the Pixel 10a to Rs 39,999.

OnePlus, iQOO, Xiaomi and Samsung: watch Amazon’s teasers

Amazon has now named some prices itself. Its newsroom lists the Galaxy S25 Ultra at Rs 84,999 and the iQOO Z11 5G at Rs 39,999, alongside cheaper Samsung models. Its teaser pages still point to the OnePlus 13s, iQOO 15, Xiaomi 17 and Redmi Note 17 without prices.

OnePlus and iQOO phones are usually strongest on Amazon, and that pattern holds this year. Samsung, however, is genuinely split. Amazon has the Galaxy S25 Ultra at Rs 84,999, while Flipkart has teased the Galaxy S26 at Rs 74,999. If you want a Galaxy, you have to open both apps.

The Confirmed Phone Prices So Far

These are the figures each company has published itself, or that reporters have taken from live listings. Anything not in these tables is still unannounced.

Notice the pattern. Amazon quotes prices you can simply pay, while Flipkart quotes prices that assume a bank card and an old phone to trade in. That difference matters more than the headline numbers.

So Which Sale Is Better for Phones?

There is no single winner. Here is how to decide:

• Buying an iPhone: Flipkart, which has published prices, unless Amazon undercuts it on 8 October
• Buying a Pixel: Flipkart, the only option in India
• Buying OnePlus or iQOO: Amazon
• Buying Samsung: compare both, because the S25 Ultra deal is on Amazon and the S26 deal is on Flipkart
• Holding an SBI card: lean towards Amazon
• Holding an Axis or ICICI card: lean towards Flipkart

Why Sale Prices Matter More This Year

Phones are getting more expensive in 2026. Memory chip prices have risen sharply because of demand from AI data centers, and average smartphone prices in India were up around 15 percent by June, according to Counterpoint Research.

That makes a genuine festive discount more valuable than usual. It also means some “deals” may simply bring prices back to where they were last year.

Check the real price history

“Up to 90 percent off” banners make great headlines but say little about phones. Note today’s price for the phone you want, and only count the drop from that.

Be ready before the sale starts

Add the phone to your cart, keep your card ready and log in early on 8 October. Popular phone deals have sold out within hours in past sales.

Stack offers carefully

The best final price usually combines the sale price, the bank discount and an exchange offer on your old phone. Check the bank discount cap before you assume the full 10 percent.

Consider last year’s models

The Bottom Line

Amazon’s Great Indian Festival starts on 8 October and Flipkart’s Big Billion Days on 9 October. For phones, the better sale is still the one that stocks the phone you want and backs the bank card you hold.

What has changed is that both sides have shown their hands. Flipkart has the iPhone 17 and every Pixel, while Amazon has the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the OnePlus and iQOO range. Our honest read is that Flipkart has the louder numbers and Amazon the simpler ones.

Two things are still unknown. Neither company has published the cap on its 10 percent bank discount, and Amazon has not priced its iPhones. Until those land, work out your own worst-case total without the exchange bonus, and treat anything lower as a bonus rather than a promise.
