Is the Pixel 11 Really Better Than the iPhone 17? The Truth You Need to Know
iPhone 17 vs Pixel 11, judged on lab tests: speed, cameras, battery and updates. Then a clear call on who should buy, who should wait and who should skip.

The iPhone 17 vs Pixel 11 question should be easy. One phone is brand new, and the other is more than a year old. So the newer Pixel ought to win.
It does not. In lab tests, the year-old iPhone 17 is faster, lighter and almost level on battery. Meanwhile, the Pixel 11 wins on one big thing: zoom.
We have not tested either phone ourselves. Instead, this verdict rests on official specs, lab results from GSMArena and long-term testing from Beebom. Every number below links to its source.

iPhone 17 | Pixel 11 | |

Both phones have a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED screen, 256GB of base storage and an IP68 rating. Therefore, the real choice comes down to speed, cameras and how long each phone stays supported.
Speed and Battery: The iPhone Pulls Ahead
This is the biggest gap between the two. In GSMArena’s benchmark charts, the iPhone 17 scored 2,109,773 on AnTuTu v10. The Pixel 11 scored 1,417,716.
Single-core speed tells the same story. The iPhone posted 3,680 on Geekbench 6, while the Pixel managed 2,731. That is roughly 35% faster for the iPhone.
Graphics are worse for Google. On 3DMark Wild Life Extreme, the iPhone 17 hit 5,134 against the Pixel’s 3,451. Even under sustained load, the iPhone stayed ahead, at 3,455 to 2,360.
For apps, chats and maps, you may not feel any of this. However, games are a real problem on the Pixel. Beebom’s Pixel 11 review found Genshin Impact effectively unplayable, with pink screens and stutter.
Beebom links that to the game dropping support for the graphics design the Tensor G6 uses. In contrast, it found lighter games such as BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile fine for casual play.
The iPhone is not perfect either. GSMArena lists heating and throttling under sustained load among its cons. Still, it throttles from a much higher starting point.
Battery, on the other hand, is close. The Pixel has a far bigger cell, at 4,985mAh against 3,692mAh. Yet GSMArena’s Pixel 11 battery test gave it an active use score of 15 hours 40 minutes.
The iPhone 17 scored 14 hours 59 minutes in the same lab. So the Pixel lasts about 40 minutes longer, despite a battery that is 35% larger.
Charging is a split decision. The iPhone reached 63% in 30 minutes, ahead of the Pixel’s 59%. However, the Pixel finished a full charge first, in 1 hour 19 minutes against 1 hour 25 minutes.
Both phones also charge wirelessly at 25W with magnets built in. As a result, magnetic stands and power banks work on either one.
Cameras: The Pixel’s Zoom Is the Real Difference
On paper, the two main cameras are almost identical. Each uses a 48MP sensor. After that, the phones go in different directions.
The Pixel 11 has a dedicated 10.8MP zoom camera with 5x optical zoom. The iPhone 17 has no zoom lens at all. It crops its main sensor to give a 2x view.
That gap matters for concerts, sport and wildlife. If you often shoot things far away, the Pixel reaches much further with real optics. Beebom rated its 5x shots as good and called the cameras reliable overall.
The iPhone fights back on the other lenses. Its ultrawide is 48MP against the Pixel’s 13MP. In addition, its selfie camera is 18MP against 10.5MP.
Beebom also noticed the Pixel’s ultrawide losing more detail than its main camera. So for group shots and landscapes, the iPhone has the stronger hardware.
Video is the iPhone’s clearest win. GSMArena’s iPhone 17 verdict praises its excellent video quality and stabilisation across all cameras. It calls the phone “the easiest iPhone to recommend in the 2025 lineup.”
We have not shot a single photo on either phone. Based on the reviews above, though, pick the Pixel for zoom and the iPhone for video, selfies and wide shots.
Screen, Design and Software Updates
The iPhone 17 weighs 177g and is 8mm thick. By comparison, the Pixel 11 weighs 197g and is 8.6mm thick. Twenty grams is easy to feel during a long call.
The iPhone’s screen can also drop to 1Hz to save power, GSMArena confirms. On the other hand, it only holds its top brightness briefly. GSMArena measured just over 1,000 nits sustained in auto mode.
Google rates the Pixel’s panel at 2,000 nits typical and 3,000 nits peak. We could not find a matching lab figure, so treat that as Google’s claim.
Memory favours the Pixel. It has 12GB of RAM against 8GB on the iPhone. That gives Google more room for on-device AI features over the years.
Updates are where the age gap hurts the iPhone. Google promises seven years of Android updates for the Pixel 11, which launched in August 2026.
Apple publishes no fixed number of years. However, iPhones have a long record of support. Even so, the iPhone 17 started its clock 11 months earlier, so expect its support to end sooner.
Software is mostly a matter of taste. The Pixel ships with Android 17 and Gemini built in. Meanwhile, the iPhone runs iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence. If you already use a Mac, an iPad or AirPods, the iPhone fits in better.
Who Should Buy, Who Should Wait, Who Should Skip
Here is the verdict, without sitting on the fence.
Buy the iPhone 17 if you want the faster, lighter phone with the better video. It also suits anyone already using Apple gear. Right now, it even costs Rs 3,000 less than the Pixel at the same storage.
Buy the Pixel 11 if you shoot a lot of distant subjects. Its 5x zoom has no match on the iPhone. Also pick it if you want the longest update window or prefer Android.
Wait if you want a base iPhone with a newer chip. MacRumors reports the standard iPhone 18 will arrive in early 2027, not this autumn. That is still a report, and Apple has not confirmed it.
Skip the Pixel 11 if you play heavy games. Until the Genshin Impact issue is fixed, that is a serious flaw at this price. Also skip both if you would pay full list price. At Rs 99,900, neither phone is good value.
So is the Pixel 11 really better than the iPhone 17? For zoom and update years, yes. For almost everything else, the year-old iPhone wins.
India Price, Retailers and Offers
This section is for buyers in India, where both prices moved sharply this year.
Apple raised the iPhone 17’s price in September. Business Today reported a jump from Rs 82,900 to Rs 99,900 for 256GB. The 512GB model rose from Rs 1,02,900 to Rs 1,24,900.
However, retailers are selling below that. On 17 October, Flipkart listed the iPhone 17 at Rs 86,999 for 256GB and Rs 1,11,999 for 512GB.
The same page advertises a net effective price of Rs 76,999. That needs a Flipkart Axis Bank card and an exchange, and Flipkart does not fully explain the gap.
The Pixel 11 has dropped less. On 17 October, Flipkart’s Pixel 11 listings showed Rs 89,999 for 256GB and Rs 99,999 for 512GB. Bank offers are shown, but their terms were not listed.
The Pixel did fall to Rs 69,999 with offers during Big Billion Days, as we covered in our Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 comparison. So if you want the Pixel, waiting for the next sale could save real money.
