The Best Laptops Under Rs 50,000: How to Get 16GB RAM for Less
We checked live prices on laptops under Rs 50,000. One 16GB MSI costs Rs 43,219, less than its 8GB twin. Here is what to buy and what to skip.

If you are shopping for laptops under Rs 50,000, most lists online are already out of date. We checked live prices on 21 October, and several old favourites now cost Rs 57,000 or more.
However, there is one real bargain. A 16GB MSI laptop sells for less than its own 8GB version. That is the one to buy, and the rest of this guide explains why.
Prices checked live on 21 October 2026. Laptop prices are moving fast this year, so check again before you pay.
The Short Version
- Best overall: MSI Modern 14 with 16GB RAM, at about Rs 43,219 on Flipkart. It is the only 16GB laptop we could confirm under Rs 50,000.
- Do not buy the 8GB MSI Modern 14. It costs Rs 45,990, which is more than the 16GB model.
- Budget pick: Acer Aspire Lite Metal (2026) at Rs 42,990, for school work and browsing only.
- Skip the Rs 49,990 Core 3 laptops. You pay the full budget and still get 8GB.
- If the MSI sells out, wait or stretch to about Rs 56,950 for a 16GB HP.
Why Laptops Under Rs 50,000 Got Worse This Year
The cause is memory. DDR RAM prices rose about 2.5 to three times, according to a March report citing IDC and Counterpoint. As a result, laptops that once cost Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 were moving towards Rs 45,000.
Dealers felt it even more. One dealers’ association said laptop prices had risen 30 to 40 per cent in four months, with another rise due in April. This is the same memory squeeze that has pushed up smartphone prices in 2026.
So the Rs 50,000 bracket has shrunk. In short, it now mostly buys 8GB machines.
The Old Favourites That Left the Bracket
Two laptops that topped most “under Rs 50,000” lists have moved out of reach.
Laptop | Older list price | Live price, 21 October |
|---|---|---|
ASUS Vivobook Go 15 (Ryzen 5 7520U, 8GB) | Rs 46,990 | Rs 59,900 |
Samsung Galaxy Book4 (Core i3-1315U, 8GB) | Rs 49,990 | Rs 57,499 |
Smartprix’s own price list still shows the older figures. Yet its Vivobook Go 15 product page showed Rs 59,900 at Flipkart on the same day. Flipkart listed a sister Ryzen 5 version at Rs 66,251 to Rs 66,990.
Therefore, if a guide still recommends these at under Rs 50,000, it is using stale prices.
1. MSI Modern 14 (16GB): Best Overall
Price: about Rs 43,219 · Why it wins: 16GB RAM and a six-core chip · Watch out for: a sale price that may not last
This is the clear pick. Smartprix tracked it at Rs 43,219 on Flipkart, and the price fell 31 per cent in the past month. Flipkart’s own page showed Rs 43,279 and marked it as a sale discount.
You get 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD and a 14-inch Full HD screen. Flipkart lists it at 1.4kg, so it is easy to carry to college or the office.
Meanwhile, 16GB matters more than the processor at this price. Chrome, Teams and a few documents will fill 8GB quickly. With 16GB, the laptop stays usable for years rather than months.
The catch: Flipkart’s listing names both the Ryzen 5 7430U and the 7530U. Both are six-core, 12-thread chips, so the difference is small. Still, check the model number before you pay. Also, it is sold by a third-party seller, and stock looked patchy.
2. Acer Aspire Lite Metal (2026): Budget Pick
Price: Rs 42,990 · Why it works: cheapest laptop here worth considering · Watch out for: only 8GB RAM
Flipkart listed this Ryzen 3 5400U model at Rs 42,990, with 8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. It is a 15.6-inch laptop for browsing, online classes and documents.
However, it costs only about Rs 230 less than the 16GB MSI. So buy it only if the MSI is sold out and you cannot wait.
The Ones to Skip
The 8GB MSI Modern 14. Smartprix shows it at Rs 45,990. That is Rs 2,771 more than the 16GB version, for half the memory.
ASUS ExpertBook P1 at Rs 49,990. It uses an Intel Core 3 100U with 8GB RAM. That chip has only two performance cores, and you are paying almost the whole budget for it.
HP Professional 15 with 8GB at Rs 48,660. The same problem applies. It has the same Core 3 100U and the same 8GB. Its 16GB version costs Rs 56,950 on Amazon and Rs 61,990 on Flipkart.
Where to Buy and What to Check
Both picks are on Flipkart. Before you pay, check three things:
- The exact model number on the listing, not just the name.
- The seller. For instance, the 16GB MSI was sold by a third-party seller, not MSI.
- The warranty. Flipkart listed a one-year carry-in warranty for the MSI, so check it still applies after the sale.
Also, look at bank offers on the day. They change daily, so we have not listed them here.
Quick Answers
Is 8GB RAM enough in 2026?
For browsing and documents, yes. For many tabs, video calls and light editing, 16GB is far more comfortable.
Should I wait for laptop prices to fall?
Probably not soon. An IDC analyst said the memory pressure could last until the second half of 2027.
Is the Rs 43,219 price permanent?
No one knows. It fell 31 per cent in a month, which looks like a sale price.
What if I only have Rs 40,000?
Our older guide to the best laptops under Rs 40,000 covers that budget, but re-check every price first.
The Bottom Line
Buy the 16GB MSI Modern 14 if it is still around Rs 43,219. It is the best value among laptops under Rs 50,000 by a wide margin.
If it sells out, do not settle for an 8GB laptop at Rs 49,990. Instead, wait for the next sale or stretch to about Rs 56,950 for 16GB.
What is still unknown: how long the MSI sale price lasts, and whether it returns to stock. We do not know when memory prices will ease, either. We will re-check these prices before the next big sale.
