The HyperOS 4 release date has arrived, but only in China. Xiaomi started sending the stable update to 12 devices there on 15 October 2026, led by the Xiaomi 17 series.

Outside China, though, there is still no date. So if you own a global Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO phone, the real question is how long you will wait. And should you try to skip the queue?

Our answer is no. Below, we explain what the first rollout looks like, when global phones should get it based on last year’s pattern, and which two phones are not getting it at all.

The Short Version

  • China stable: Rolling out since 15 October 2026, starting with 12 devices.
  • Global stable: No date yet. Last year, global phones followed China by about six weeks.
  • Global beta: Open now for the Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra, 17T, 17T Pro, 15 and 15 Ultra.
  • Left out: The Redmi Note 14 5G and POCO M7 Pro 5G are not expected to get it.
  • Our view: Wait for the stable update. Do not put the beta on the phone you rely on.

The HyperOS 4 Release Date in China: Who Got It First

Xiaomi confirmed the date in a community post, Beebom reports. The update is based on Android 17. It also arrived after the internal beta closed on 14 October.

According to Beebom, the first batch covers 12 devices:

  • Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, 17 Ultra and 17 Ultra Satellite Edition
  • Xiaomi Mix Flip 2
  • Redmi K90, K90 Pro, K90 Pro Max and K90 Pro Lamborghini Edition
  • Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro

However, the lists do not fully match. Gizchina’s rollout report also names the Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max. Both outlets agree on the Xiaomi 17 series, the Redmi K90 and the Pad 8 tablets.

Also, the rollout is staged. So a phone on the list may not get the notice on day one. Gizchina says a second batch is reportedly due later in October, but Xiaomi has not published that schedule.

When Will Global Phones Get HyperOS 4?

Xiaomi has not given a global date. Still, last year’s update offers a strong clue, because Xiaomi followed the same steps.

HyperOS 3 began in China by 15 October 2025, according to GSMArena. For global phones, the first dozen or so devices were due by the end of November, Notebookcheck reported. Meanwhile, older models waited until March 2026.

If HyperOS 4 follows the same path, here is our estimate. It is not an official schedule.

HyperOS 3 (last year)
HyperOS 4 (this year)
China stable starts
By 15 October 2025
15 October 2026
First global phones
By end of November 2025
Late November 2026 (our estimate)
Older global phones
Up to March 2026
Early 2027 (our estimate)

In short, a global Xiaomi 17 owner should expect the update in about six weeks. A three-year-old Redmi Note will likely wait into 2027.

What Is New in HyperOS 4

First, the look. Beebom lists translucent glass-like elements, redesigned lock screens and a new Control Centre. In addition, HyperIsland, Xiaomi’s take on live alerts at the top of the screen, does more.

Second, speed. Xiaomi points to faster app launches and better memory use. One beta tester quoted by Gizchina also reported cooler running, fewer stutters and better background app retention. However, that is one person’s view, not a benchmark.

There is a catch for cheaper phones, too. The full glass design is limited to top chips such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Dimensity 9500, Beebom’s device guide says. Other phones get a simpler version.

The 1 Warning: Do Not Rush the Beta

The global beta is open, and that is tempting. It covers the Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra, 17T, 17T Pro, 15 and 15 Ultra, but only Global and EEA versions, according to Gizchina’s beta guide.

Here is the problem. You cannot roll back through a normal update. Going back to HyperOS 3 may mean flashing older software, and that can wipe your data.

Gizchina also warns of possible bugs, worse battery life and app crashes. Banking and payment apps are the ones to check first. So unless you have a spare phone, this is not worth it for a few weeks’ head start.

Similarly, do not flash a China build onto a global phone. Firmware is tied to the phone’s region, and a mismatch is how phones end up broken.

Which Phones Are Not Getting HyperOS 4

Two popular phones are expected to miss out: the Redmi Note 14 5G and the POCO M7 Pro 5G. Both Beebom and Gizchina give the same reason.

Both launched on Android 14 with a promise of two major Android updates. As a result, their support ends with HyperOS 3.

Note that Xiaomi has not published an official global device list yet. The lists going around are compiled by tech sites, so treat any single model as likely rather than confirmed.

Should You Wait, Join the Beta or Move On?

Wait for the stable update if you own a global Xiaomi 17, 17T or 15 series phone. You are first in line, and the official update should be weeks away. That is what we would do.

Join the beta only if you have a second phone to test on. It gives you a head start, but a bad build on your main phone costs far more than a few weeks of waiting.

Skip the wait if you own a Redmi Note 14 5G or POCO M7 Pro 5G. HyperOS 4 is not coming. Your phone still works, so keep it, but do not expect new features on it.

Galaxy owners have their own schedule. See our One UI 9 release date guide. OnePlus fans can check ColorOS 17’s rollout status.

HyperOS 4 in India

Xiaomi has not confirmed a stable date for India either. Beebom estimates the first Indian phones could get it later in 2026, with most eligible models in 2027. That is an estimate, not a promise.

Also, Indian model names can differ from global ones. So check your exact model in Settings, under My Device, before you trust any list.
