Galaxy S27 Release Date: Why January 2027 Is the Best Time to Upgrade, With 1 Big Warning
The Galaxy S27 release date is tipped for January 2027, with four models. Here is what the leak says, what could slip, and who should wait.

The Galaxy S27 release date is now tipped for January 2027. Korean tipster Lanzuk says Samsung is aiming for early January, with February as the latest fallback. Samsung itself has not announced anything.
That matters because the Galaxy S26 came late. It was unveiled on 25 February 2026. So a January launch would put the S27 roughly six weeks ahead of last year’s schedule.
Below, you will find what the leak actually says, how it fits Samsung’s history, and what we would do if you were planning to buy a Galaxy phone this winter.
The Short Version
- Release date: Early January 2027 is the reported target. However, February is possible. Samsung has confirmed nothing.
- Models: Four phones are expected, the Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra.
- Ready first: The base and Plus models are reportedly finished. Meanwhile, the Pro and Ultra are still being decided.
- Charging: Certification filings show 25W on the S27 and 45W on the S27+, the same as the S26 pair.
- The warning: Pricier memory is the reason for the delay, and that same memory could raise prices.
- Our call: If you own an S24 or older, wait three months. If you own an S25 or S26, skip it.
What the Galaxy S27 Release Date Leak Says
The report comes from Lanzuk, who posts as yeux1122 on Naver. SamMobile reports that he points to early January 2027. It also describes him as having a solid track record with Samsung leaks.
Similarly, tbreak says Samsung is targeting January, with the release possibly slipping to “February at the latest”. According to that report, the component choices are already final and Samsung is now managing the schedule.
However, 9to5Google is more cautious. It notes that Samsung has not set a date and that there is no concrete timing yet. In other words, January is a target, not a promise.
SamMobile also gives a possible reason for the earlier date. Samsung reportedly wants to time the launch around its rivals, most likely Apple’s base iPhone 18.
How January Fits Samsung’s Track Record
A January launch would not be unusual. In fact, it would be a return to normal. Here are the last four Unpacked dates, as listed by SamMobile.
Phone | Announced |
|---|---|
Galaxy S23 | 1 February 2023 |
Galaxy S24 | 17 January 2024 |
Galaxy S25 | 22 January 2025 |
Galaxy S26 | 25 February 2026 |
As you can see, the S26 was the late one. The S24 and S25 both arrived in January. So the leak simply puts Samsung back on its usual calendar, between CES and MWC.
Also, the paperwork lines up. The S27 and S27+ appeared in China’s 3C certification database on 1 September 2026, Beebom reports. That kind of listing usually arrives a few months before launch.
The Four Galaxy S27 Models So Far
Every detail in this table is reported, not confirmed. Even so, the charging figures come from certification filings, which are usually reliable.
Model | Model number | Wired charging | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
Galaxy S27 | SM-S9520 | 25W | Reportedly finished |
Galaxy S27+ | SM-S9560 | 45W | Reportedly finished |
Galaxy S27 Pro | Not yet listed here | Not settled | Still being decided |
Galaxy S27 Ultra | Not yet listed here | Not settled | Still being decided |
Both Beebom and VietNamNet report 25W for the S27 and 45W for the S27+. If that holds, the base model stays at 25W for a seventh year in a row.
As for the chip, SamMobile reports that the S27 and S27+ will use the Exynos 2700 in most markets outside China and North America. That said, reports still disagree on the exact country list.
The Big Warning: Memory Could Raise the Price
The reason for the uncertainty is memory. Samsung is reportedly still deciding whether the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra get LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage, according to SamMobile and 9to5Google.
Both parts are faster. However, both are also expensive, and memory prices have climbed sharply this year. As a result, 9to5Google says the Pro and Ultra sit at a price that seems to swing from “high to higher”.
Meanwhile, tbreak notes Samsung has already raised Galaxy S26 prices in Korea and the US. So no source has an S27 price yet, but nothing points to a cut.
There is also a chip question. tbreak mentions a separate report of heating issues on the Ultra’s Snapdragon chip. Qualcomm has denied that claim, so treat it as unproven.
Should You Wait for the Galaxy S27?
Here is our position, model by model and owner by owner.
Wait if you own a Galaxy S24 or older. January is about three months away. Therefore, buying an S26 today means paying a raised price for a phone that is replaced almost at once.
Skip it if you own a Galaxy S25 or S26. The base S27 and S27+ reportedly keep the same charging speeds. So far, nothing in the leaks justifies paying flagship money again.
Buy now only if your phone is broken. In that case, a discounted older model makes more sense than a full-price S26. Our Galaxy S26 Ultra vs S25 Ultra comparison shows how little separates them.
What would we do? We would wait for January. Then we would buy whichever model is cheaper, the new S27 or a marked-down S26. For the Ultra specifically, our Galaxy S27 Ultra wait-or-buy guide covers the camera and battery leaks in detail.
Galaxy S26 Prices in India Today
This section is for Indian buyers. Samsung raised every Galaxy S26 price in India from 23 September 2026, Digit reports. We covered it in our Galaxy S26 price hike story.
Model (12GB + 256GB) | Launch price | Price after hike |
|---|---|---|
Galaxy S26 | Rs 87,999 | Rs 1,02,999 |
Galaxy S26+ | Rs 1,19,999 | Rs 1,34,999 |
Galaxy S26 Ultra | Rs 1,39,999 | Rs 1,54,999 |
That is exactly why we say wait. Paying Rs 1,02,999 for a base S26 three months before its successor arrives is poor timing.
Quick Answers
When is the Galaxy S27 release date?
Samsung has not said. The leak points to early January 2027, with February as the fallback.
How many Galaxy S27 models will there be?
Four are expected, the S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra. The Pro would be a new name.
Will the Galaxy S27 charge faster?
Probably not. Certification filings show 25W on the S27 and 45W on the S27+, the same as the S26.
Will the Galaxy S27 cost more?
No source has a price yet. However, rising memory costs make a price cut unlikely.
The Bottom Line
The Galaxy S27 release date looks set for January 2027, which would put Samsung back on its usual schedule. For most people on an S24 or older, waiting three months is the smart move.
Still, a lot is unknown. Samsung has not sent invitations, and February remains possible. Prices, final chips for the Pro and Ultra, and the memory choice are all unsettled. We will update this page once Samsung confirms a date.
