Xiaomi 18 Pro Global Launch: It Costs More, and the Best Part Shrinks to 6,000mAh, With 1 Big Warning
The Xiaomi 18 Pro global launch is near, but leaked EU listings show a 6,000mAh battery, not 7,000mAh, and a far higher price. Who should wait or skip.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro global launch is getting close, and the first leaked details are not kind. EU energy labels show a 6,000mAh battery in the global model. The Chinese phone has 7,000mAh.
On top of that, the leaked European price is far above the Chinese one. So outside China, you would pay a lot more for a phone that lasts less.2
Here’s what is confirmed, what is only leaked, and what we would do with our money.
The Short Version
- Global launch: Xiaomi says it is coming. There is no date, and leaks point to December or early 2027.
- Battery: Leaked EU labels list 6,000mAh for the global 18 Pro, down from 7,000mAh in China.
- Price: The leaked European price works out to about Rs 1.54 lakh, against about Rs 85,400 in China.
- Best bit: Two 200MP cameras, including a periscope zoom, in a compact 6.4-inch body.
- Our view: Skip it at the leaked price. Wait for the final price and the real battery size.
What Xiaomi Has Confirmed About the Xiaomi 18 Pro
Xiaomi launched the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China in September. Both run Qualcomm’s newest chips, 9to5Google reports. The 18 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and the Pro Max uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
Xiaomi has also said the series will go global. However, it has not named a date, a list of countries or a price.
In China, the 18 Pro starts at about Rs 85,400, converted at today’s exchange rate. That is the number to keep in mind.
The 6,000mAh Battery Cut in the Global Model
This is the big warning. The global Xiaomi 18 Pro appears in the EU’s EPREL energy-label database with a 6,000mAh battery, Android Authority reports. By contrast, the Chinese model has 7,000mAh.
The Pro Max is cut too. Its battery drops from 8,500mAh in China to 7,050mAh in the global listing, according to Notebookcheck.
Xiaomi is not alone here. Notebookcheck notes that vivo and OPPO also use smaller batteries in their global flagships.
There may be a charging cut as well. 9to5Google says the global 18 Pro is limited to 90W in the EU, while the Chinese phone supports 100W. Only one outlet has reported that, so treat it as unconfirmed.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Global Price Leak
The leaked European prices come from tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, according to Notebookcheck. Converted at today’s rate, they look like this:
Model | China price | Leaked Europe price | China battery | Global battery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Xiaomi 18 Pro, 256GB | About Rs 85,400 | About Rs 1.54 lakh | 7,000mAh | 6,000mAh |
Xiaomi 18 Pro, 512GB | About Rs 99,600 | About Rs 1.75 lakh | 7,000mAh | 6,000mAh |
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, 512GB | Not compared | About Rs 1.96 lakh | 8,500mAh | 7,050mAh |
Put simply, the leaked global price is close to double the Chinese one. In return, you get 1,000mAh less battery.
To be fair, the two prices are not directly comparable. European prices include sales tax, and Android Authority points this out. Still, the gap is large even after tax.
For context, the Xiaomi 17 started at about Rs 1.06 lakh in Europe, and the 17 Ultra at about Rs 1.59 lakh, 9to5Google says. So the leaked 18 Pro sits almost at last year’s Ultra price.
Why the Xiaomi 18 Pro Costs So Much More
Android Authority links the jump to rising chip and memory costs. In fact, the whole industry is feeling it.
For example, OPPO’s new Find X10 Pro Max also arrived at a record price. We covered that in our OPPO Find X10 Pro Max price breakdown.
Even so, a higher price for a smaller battery is a hard sell. Most buyers will notice the battery every single day.
When Is the Xiaomi 18 Pro Global Launch?
Nobody knows yet. Notebookcheck says rumours point to a European launch as early as December 2026, or possibly next year.
On the other hand, Xiaomi usually goes global around MWC in Barcelona each spring. Last year, the Xiaomi 17 went global on 28 February 2026, 9to5Google notes. MWC 2027 starts on 1 March 2027.
Our guess is the spring window. Still, the December rumour means an earlier event is possible.
The global phone should also run HyperOS 4 on Android 17. Our HyperOS 4 release date guide explains how that rollout is going.
Xiaomi 18 Pro India Launch and Price
India is a separate story. Xiaomi confirmed the 18 Pro for India on stage at Snapdragon Day during IMC 2026, Beebom reports. There is still no date.
Tipster Yogesh Brar says it could arrive by December, Smartprix reports. He also says the Pro Max and the regular Xiaomi 18 have been dropped from India.
Digit expects the price to land between Rs 95,000 and Rs 1,00,000. That is an estimate, not an official figure.
Here’s the catch for Indian buyers. Smartprix lists a 6,000mAh battery for the Indian model, while Beebom lists 7,000mAh. Xiaomi has not said which one India gets.
For comparison, the Xiaomi 17 launched in India at Rs 89,999 with a 6,330mAh battery, ETV Bharat reports. So a 6,000mAh 18 Pro would have a smaller battery than last year’s cheaper phone.
We covered the first India teaser in our Xiaomi 18 Pro India launch post.
Should You Buy, Wait or Skip the Xiaomi 18 Pro?
Skip it at the leaked global price. Paying about Rs 1.54 lakh for a 6,000mAh phone makes little sense. After all, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra cost almost the same in Europe, and it also had a 6,000mAh battery.
Wait if you want a small phone with a serious zoom camera. The 18 Pro pairs two 200MP cameras with a 6.4-inch screen, and few rivals do that. But wait for the final price and the confirmed battery first.
Buy it only if your market gets the 7,000mAh version near the Chinese price. In India, that means close to Rs 95,000. At that price, it would be one of the best compact phones of the year.
Our own choice is simple. We would not pre-order. We would wait for the first price cut.
