Pixel 10 Pro One Year Later: A Great Phone You Should Keep, Not Buy

Is the Pixel 10 Pro still worth it a year on? The Pixel 11 Pro adds 25W wireless charging and a brighter screen, but little else. Our verdict.

The Pixel 10 Pro is now one year old, and its replacement is already in shops. The Pixel 11 Pro arrived on 12 August 2026 with a new Tensor G6 chip, a 3,600-nit screen and 25W wireless charging.

So the obvious question follows. Should you upgrade from the Pixel 10 Pro, or buy one now that it is last year’s phone? In short, our answer is no to both, for different reasons.

For owners, the Pixel 11 Pro is too small a step. For buyers, the Pixel 10 Pro still costs too close to its successor. Below, we explain both calls and who should ignore them.

We have not held either phone for this piece. Instead, the verdict rests on published specs, lab benchmarks and long-term reviews, and each number links to its source.

The Short Version

  • The Pixel 10 Pro is still a great phone. It has a 6.3-inch 120Hz screen, 16GB of RAM, a 5x telephoto camera and seven years of updates.
  • The Pixel 11 Pro is a small upgrade. It keeps the same design, battery size, wired charging speed and ultra-wide camera.
  • The real gains are narrow. You get a brighter screen, a bigger telephoto sensor, 25W wireless charging and better battery life in one long-term test.
  • Heat is still a problem on both. Two separate reviews found the Pixel 11 Pro still heats up and slows down under load.
  • Our call: keep your Pixel 10 Pro, buy one only at a real discount, and skip both if you play games.

What the Pixel 10 Pro Still Does Well

First, the screen holds up. According to Smartprix’s spec sheet, the Pixel 10 Pro has a 6.3-inch OLED panel at 1280 x 2856 pixels, 120Hz and 3,300 nits peak. That is still bright enough for direct sunlight.

Second, the memory is generous. The Pixel 10 Pro ships with 16GB of RAM even on the 256GB model. By contrast, the newer phone starts with 12GB, as we explain below.

Third, the camera system is still a flagship one. It pairs a 50MP main camera with a 48MP ultra-wide and a 48MP 5x periscope telephoto. Moreover, the front camera is a 42MP ultra-wide, which few rivals match.

Finally, the software runway is long. Google promises seven years of updates for the Pixel 8 and later, counted from when each phone first went on sale. As a result, a Pixel 10 Pro bought in 2025 should get updates until around 2032.

What the Pixel 11 Pro Actually Changes

On paper, the list is short. In fact, one Smartprix reviewer who used the Pixel 10 Pro for a full year called the new model as incremental as an update can get. He even fitted his old Pixel 10 Pro case onto the new phone.

Here is what is genuinely new:

  • Chip: Tensor G6 replaces the Tensor G5. Google says it runs on-device AI up to 3.5 times faster, per Smartprix’s launch report.
  • Screen: Peak brightness rises from 3,300 to 3,600 nits.
  • Telephoto: The 48MP zoom camera moves to a larger 1/1.95-inch sensor, up from 1/2.55-inch. In addition, digital zoom now reaches 120x instead of 100x.
  • Wireless charging: Speed rises from 15W to 25W over Qi2, as both 9to5Google and Android Authority report.
  • HiLight: A notification light around the flash replaces the old temperature sensor.

Meanwhile, much stays the same. The battery is 4,850mAh against 4,870mAh. Wired charging is still 30W. The ultra-wide camera is the same 48MP unit. And the main sensor is listed at 1/1.3-inch, almost exactly the Pixel 10 Pro’s 1/1.31-inch.

Look closely at the RAM row. The newer phone has less memory on the same storage tier. Smartprix blames the industry-wide memory shortage for the cut.

Performance, Heat and Battery Life

Benchmarks show a modest gain. In Smartprix’s testing, the Pixel 11 Pro scored 1,417,272 on AnTuTu, against about 1.16 million for the Pixel 10 Pro. That is roughly 22% higher.

However, the picture is mixed. The same reviewer measured a lower Geekbench single-core score of 2,298 than the older phone managed. Worse, the Pixel 11 Pro throttled to 55% of its peak performance in a sustained CPU test.

Business Today found the same pattern. Its reviewer reported smooth daily use, but noted heating and a gradual performance dip during long gaming sessions. In other words, Google has not fixed the Pixel’s oldest flaw.

So if your Pixel 10 Pro feels warm under load, an upgrade will not cure it. Both phones are built for photos and software, not for games.

Battery is the area where owners may notice a change. Smartprix’s reviewer, who moved directly from a Pixel 10 Pro, reported more than six hours of screen-on time and called the improvement noticeable.

Still, that is one reviewer’s experience, not a lab result. Business Today was more cautious. It said moderate users will get a full day, but heavy users may only see 15 to 16 hours off the charger.

Charging is unchanged where it matters most. Both phones top out at 30W wired. Business Today timed a full charge at about 90 minutes, which is slow next to most rivals.

The wireless jump from 15W to 25W is real. However, it only helps if you already own a Qi2 charger rated for 25W.

The Verdict: Who Should Buy, Wait or Skip

Keep it, if you own a Pixel 10 Pro. The Pixel 11 Pro does not change how the phone feels to use. You keep the same design, the same main and ultra-wide cameras, and more RAM than the new base model. Your phone also has updates until about 2032.

Upgrade, only if zoom or wireless charging matters to you. The larger telephoto sensor and 25W wireless charging are the two upgrades you would feel daily. For everyone else, the difference is small.

Buy a Pixel 10 Pro new, only at a real discount. At its full Rs 1,09,999, it costs just Rs 10,000 less than the Pixel 11 Pro. That gap is too small to give up the newer phone’s extra year of updates, brighter screen and better zoom.

Below about Rs 95,000, however, the 16GB Pixel 10 Pro becomes the smarter buy.

Wait, if you want a new Pixel Pro but the price hurts. The Pixel 11 Pro will not get cheaper overnight. Even so, its price should fall once the launch window fades. Meanwhile, the base Pixel 11 shares the same chip for less.

Skip both, if you play games or need a two-day battery. Two reviews found the Pixel 11 Pro still throttles and heats up. Neither phone is the right tool for that job.

Price and Availability in India

We checked live listings on 28 October 2026. On Flipkart, the Pixel 10 Pro 256GB still lists at its launch price of Rs 1,09,999. Some colours were in stock, while the Obsidian model was unavailable.

On Smartprix, the lowest recent Pixel 10 Pro price was Rs 94,990 on Amazon, last changed on 9 October 2026. However, that listing was out of stock when we checked, so treat it as a target rather than a live offer.

The Pixel 11 Pro lists at Rs 1,19,999 for 12GB and 256GB on Flipkart, and Rs 1,34,999 for 16GB and 512GB. Those match the launch prices Beebom reported in August.

At launch, Smartprix’s review also listed bank offers of up to Rs 8,000 and no-cost EMI for six months. Check the current offers before you pay, because they change often.

Quick Answers

Is the Pixel 10 Pro still worth buying in late 2026?

Yes, but only below about Rs 95,000. At full price, the Pixel 11 Pro is the better deal for Rs 10,000 more.

Should I upgrade from the Pixel 10 Pro to the Pixel 11 Pro?

For most owners, no. The design, battery size, wired charging and two of three cameras are almost unchanged.

Does the Pixel 11 Pro fix the heating problem?

Not fully. Smartprix measured throttling to 55% of peak, and Business Today saw heating in long gaming sessions.

How long will the Pixel 10 Pro get updates?

Google promises seven years from launch, so updates should continue until around 2032.

The Bottom Line

The Pixel 10 Pro has aged well. It still has a sharp, bright screen, a strong triple camera and more RAM than its successor’s base model. A year on, nothing about it feels out of date.

That is exactly why the Pixel 11 Pro is a hard sell to owners. It brings a brighter screen, a better zoom camera and faster wireless charging, but almost nothing else changes. Keep your phone.

For new buyers, the maths decides it. Find a Pixel 10 Pro well under Rs 1 lakh and it is the smarter purchase. At full price, spend the extra Rs 10,000 instead.

What we cannot tell you yet is how the Tensor G6 ages. One year of updates will show whether its heat problem gets better or worse.
