The Galaxy S26 FE price in India is Rs 79,999, and there is only one model, with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Last year, the Galaxy S25 FE started at Rs 59,999.
So the entry price of Samsung’s “affordable” flagship has jumped by Rs 20,000. Yet on paper, most of the phone looks the same as before.
Here is what you get for that money, what did not change, and whether you should buy now or wait for the festive sales.

What the Galaxy S26 FE Costs in India
Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 FE in India at Rs 79,999, with sales starting on 18 September. It comes in one configuration only.
That matters, because earlier leaks pointed to a cheaper 128GB model. SamMobile says Samsung may still add it later, but nothing is confirmed.
It comes in three colours: Pistachio, Blueberry and Graphite, according to Gizbot.
The Specs That Matter
The phone uses Samsung’s own Exynos 2500 chip, built on a 3nm process. The screen is a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel with up to 1,900 nits of brightness.
On the back, you get a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide and an 8MP telephoto with 3x zoom. The front camera is 12MP.
The battery is 4,900mAh, with 45W wired and 15W wireless charging. Beebom’s spec sheet also lists IP68 water resistance, 193 grams and a 7.4mm body.
Finally, it ships with One UI 9 on Android 17. Samsung promises seven years of software and security updates, which is still the best in this price range.
The Catch: Rs 20,000 More for a New Chip
This is the part that bothers me. Let’s put the two phones side by side.
When the S25 FE launched, it cost Rs 59,999 for 128GB and Rs 65,999 for 256GB. It also had a 4,900mAh battery, 45W charging and the same 50MP, 12MP and 8MP cameras.
In other words, the headline changes are the chip and the software. The battery, charging speed and camera megapixels have not moved.

To be fair, the like-for-like gap is smaller. The 256GB S25 FE cost Rs 65,999, so the real jump is Rs 14,000.
Even so, Rs 14,000 is a lot to pay for a newer chip. Megapixels are not the whole story, of course. We have not tested the S26 FE, so image processing may have improved.
Why Samsung Raised the Price
Samsung has not explained the price. However, it fits a wider pattern this year.
Just days ago, Samsung raised Galaxy S26 prices in India by Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000. The base S26 now costs Rs 1,02,999.
Most reports blame costlier memory chips, as we explained in why smartphone prices are rising in 2026. Dropping the 128GB model also pushes the starting price up.
So, compared with the new S26, the FE now looks like a bargain. Compared with last year’s FE, it does not.
Launch Offers and Sale Prices
Samsung is offering Rs 7,000 cashback on major bank cards, an upgrade bonus of up to Rs 8,000, or long no-cost EMI plans. SamMobile notes these offers are mutually exclusive, so you can pick only one.
With the cashback, the effective price comes down to about Rs 72,999. That is still Rs 7,000 more than the 256GB S25 FE’s launch price.
When we checked on 27 September, Flipkart’s listing showed Rs 75,999 before bank offers. Prices on sale pages change often, so check again before you pay.

Should You Buy It?
Buy it now if you use a Galaxy S21 FE, S22 or older and need a phone this week. The seven years of updates make it a safe long-term buy.
Wait for the sales if you can hold on for two weeks. Newly launched phones often get extra bank discounts in festive sales, although nothing is confirmed for this one yet.
Skip it if you already own an S25 FE. Based on the specs, there is not enough new here to justify the upgrade.
Consider the S25 FE if you can find it well below Rs 60,000. You get the same battery, charging and camera hardware for much less.

The Galaxy S26 FE is a good phone at a price that is hard to love. Rs 79,999 buys a newer chip and long updates, but little else changed from the S25 FE.
If you need a Samsung now, the cashback helps. Otherwise, wait two weeks and see what the festive sales bring.
Several things are still unknown. We do not know how much faster the Exynos 2500 feels day to day, or whether the cameras improved beyond the specs. Samsung also has not confirmed a 128GB model or any festive sale price.
