The Galaxy A08 price in India is Rs 18,499, and that buys you a 4G phone. Samsung launched it on 1 October with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, according to The Hans India.

That matters because this used to be Samsung’s cheapest A-series line. Yet the new model now costs as much as a 5G phone did two months ago.

Below, you will find what the phone offers, where it falls short, and what else your money buys. We also say who should buy it and who should skip it.

Last updated 4 October 2026. We update this page as prices are confirmed.

The Short Version

  • Price: Rs 18,499 for the only version on sale, with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
  • Available: now, through Samsung’s website, Samsung stores and partner retailers.
  • Best bit: a 6,000mAh battery, plus six generations of Android upgrades.
  • Catch: it is 4G only, and the 25W charger is sold separately.
  • Not confirmed: prices for the Galaxy M08 and Galaxy F08, and any sale discount.
  • Our take: skip it at this price unless long software support is all you want.

Galaxy A08 Price in India: What Samsung Launched

Samsung put the Galaxy A08 on sale in India on 1 October. So far, there is one version, and it costs Rs 18,499.

You can pick from three colours: Dark Blue, Silver and Green. Meanwhile, the phone is sold through Samsung.com, Samsung Exclusive Stores and partner retailers.

There is also a no-cost EMI offer. The Daily Jagran reports up to six months on bank cards, and up to nine months through NBFC partners.

However, no source we read mentions a bank discount or a launch offer. So the Rs 18,499 figure is the price you should plan around.

The Specs That Matter

Most of these details come from Samsung India’s own product page. The refresh rate and the glass come from the launch reports instead.

  • Display: 6.7-inch HD+ PLS LCD, with a 90Hz refresh rate
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G99+
  • Network: 4G LTE only
  • Memory: 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, with a microSD slot for up to 2TB
  • Rear cameras: 50MP main and a 2MP depth sensor
  • Front camera: 8MP
  • Battery: 6,000mAh with 25W charging
  • Durability: IP64 rating and Gorilla Glass 5 on the front
  • Extras: 3.5mm headphone jack and a side fingerprint sensor
  • Weight: 197 grams

There is one detail worth noting about storage. Samsung’s page lists only 45.6GB as free out of the box, so a memory card is close to a must.

Also, the software version is not fully clear. Samsung’s page says One UI 9, but My Mobile India lists One UI 8 on Android 16. Therefore, check the box before you buy.

The Catch: No 5G at Rs 18,499

This is the part that stings. The Galaxy A08 connects to 4G networks only, and Samsung’s own page confirms it.

For example, look at what Samsung charged in August. Back then, the Galaxy A07 5G cost Rs 18,500 with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, according to GSMArena.

So the new phone costs about the same, but it drops 5G and halves the storage. That is a step backwards, not an upgrade.

The charger is another small sting. Samsung sells the 25W adapter separately, so add that cost if you do not own one.

Finally, 4GB RAM is thin for a phone you may keep for years. As a result, it may feel slow long before the updates stop.

Why It Costs So Much

The price jump is steep. In August, Samsung raised the Galaxy A07 4G from Rs 11,000 to Rs 13,000, as GSMArena reported.

Now the Galaxy A08 lands at Rs 18,499. That is Rs 5,499 more than the older model’s raised price, for the same RAM and storage.

Samsung has not explained the new price. However, GSMArena tied the August hike to RAM and storage shortages, which hit cheap phones the hardest.

We covered the wider story in our guide on why smartphone prices are rising in 2026. In short, memory costs more, and budget phones have the least room to absorb it.

Six Years of Updates: Is It Enough?

This is the one thing Samsung gets right. The Galaxy A08 is promised up to six generations of Android upgrades.

Moreover, Samsung’s page says security updates run until 30 September 2032. Very few phones at this price come close to that.

Still, a long promise only helps if the hardware keeps up. With 4GB RAM and a 4G-only chip, the phone may age faster than its software.

If you want to see what the newer software brings, read our One UI 9 India rollout guide. It lists the features and the eligible Galaxy phones.

How It Compares

The closest rival is the Redmi 17C 5G. It launched on the same day at Rs 20,999 with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, according to Smartprix.

So for Rs 2,500 more, you get 5G, double the storage and faster 33W charging. In addition, the Redmi has a larger 6.9-inch 120Hz screen.

However, the Redmi has weak spots too. We explain them in our Redmi 17C 5G India launch post, so read that before you decide.

Samsung does win on updates and brand service. Yet for most buyers, 5G and 128GB matter more every single day.

Should You Buy It?

Buy it if you want a Samsung phone for calls, UPI and WhatsApp, and you plan to keep it for many years. It also suits parents or first-time users on a 4G SIM.

Skip it if you want 5G, play games, or store many photos and videos. In that case, the extra Rs 2,500 for a 5G phone is money well spent.

Wait if you are not in a hurry. The festive sales open this week, and our Flipkart vs Amazon sale guide shows where phone prices usually fall.

Quick Answers

What is the Galaxy A08 price in India?

It costs Rs 18,499 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage version. That is the only version on sale right now.

Does the Galaxy A08 support 5G?

No. Samsung’s product page lists 2G, 3G and 4G LTE only, so it will not use Jio or Airtel 5G.

Is the charger included in the box?

No. Samsung’s page says the 25W charger is sold separately, so you will need your own adapter.

When will the Galaxy M08 and F08 go on sale?

Samsung has listed both as coming soon. However, their prices and sale dates are not announced yet.

The Bottom Line

The Galaxy A08 is a decent basic phone with a great update promise and the wrong price. At Rs 18,499, a 4G phone with 64GB storage is hard to recommend in October 2026.

Therefore, our advice is simple. Pay a little more for a 5G phone, or wait for the festive sales to pull this one down.

Several things are still unknown. Samsung has not announced prices for the Galaxy M08 and F08, and it has not confirmed any sale discount on the A08.

Also, Samsung’s page lists 6GB and 8GB RAM options, but no report gives a price for them. We will update this page once Samsung confirms more.
