The vivo V80 launched in India on 6 October, starting at Rs 62,999. The 256GB model costs Rs 69,999, which is Rs 24,000 more than the V70 with the same storage cost at launch.

That is a huge jump for a phone in this series. Moreover, the V80 uses the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip as the phone it replaces.

So what does the extra money buy? Below, we cover the confirmed price, what is new, what stayed the same, and what else Rs 63,000 gets you this week. Then we say plainly who should buy it.

Last updated 9 October 2026. We have not tested this phone. Every number links to its source.

The Short Version

  • Price: Rs 62,999 for 128GB, Rs 69,999 for 256GB and Rs 79,999 for 512GB.
  • Available: pre-orders are open on Flipkart. Sales start on 13 October.
  • Best bit: a 7,200mAh battery with 90W charging in a 203g body.
  • Catch: same chip as the V70, and only 8GB of RAM on every model.
  • Rival price: the Xiaomi 17, with a flagship chip, is Rs 59,999 on Amazon.
  • Our call: skip it at this price. Most buyers have better options today.

vivo V80 Launched in India: Price and Sale Date

The phone comes in three versions, and all of them have 8GB of RAM. The 128GB model costs Rs 62,999, the 256GB model costs Rs 69,999, and the 512GB model costs Rs 79,999, Gizbot reports.

TelecomTalk lists the same three prices. In addition, we saw all three on Flipkart’s listings on 9 October, marked as pre-order.

You can pick from three colours: Stellar Black, Horizon Blue and Sunrise Anthem. Sales begin on 13 October through Flipkart and vivo’s online store, according to Gizbot. TelecomTalk also names Amazon.

The launch offers are modest. You get 10% instant cashback or a 10% exchange bonus, plus 100GB of Google One storage. However, neither report names the eligible bank cards.

The Price Jump, in Plain Numbers

Here is the part the launch coverage plays down. The vivo V70 launched at Rs 45,999 for 8GB and 256GB, as Gizbot noted before the launch.

The V80 with 8GB and 256GB costs Rs 69,999. So the like-for-like increase is Rs 24,000, or about 52%, by our maths.

Even the cheapest V80 costs Rs 17,000 more than that V70 did. Furthermore, it gives you half the storage.

To be fair, the V70 has also become costlier. On 9 October, Flipkart listed the V70 with 256GB at Rs 59,999. Memory costs are pushing every brand up, as we explained in why smartphone prices are surging in 2026.

Still, that makes the gap between the two phones Rs 10,000 today for the same storage. That is the number to judge the V80 by.

| vivo V80 | vivo V70 |

| Launch price, 8GB + 256GB | Rs 69,999 | Rs 45,999 |

| Flipkart price on 9 October | Rs 69,999 | Rs 59,999 |

| Chip | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |

| Battery | 7,200mAh | 6,500mAh |

| Screen | 6.59-inch AMOLED | 6.59-inch AMOLED |

| Rear cameras | 50MP + 50MP + 8MP | 50MP + 50MP + 8MP |

| Front camera | 50MP | 50MP |

The V70 figures come from Flipkart’s own listing. As you can see, the two phones look very alike on paper.

What Is Actually New

The battery is the headline. It grows from 6,500mAh to 7,200mAh, which is the biggest ever in a V-series phone. Meanwhile, the body stays slim at 7.69mm and 203g.

Charging is quick as well. The V80 supports 90W charging, and vivo claims 50% in 30 minutes, according to Digit.

The screen now refreshes at 144Hz, and vivo quotes a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. In addition, the phone carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water.

Software is new too. The V80 ships with OriginOS 7, based on Android 17. However, neither launch report states how many years of updates vivo promises.

What Has Not Changed

The chip is the big one. The V80 runs on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, exactly like the V70. So do not expect it to feel faster.

It is also a mid-range chip. At Rs 62,999, most rivals give you a flagship processor instead.

Memory is another weak spot. Every V80 has 8GB of RAM, even the Rs 79,999 model. Besides, Gizbot says it is the older LPDDR4X type.

The cameras look familiar as well. You get a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ZEISS telephoto and an 8MP ultrawide. The front camera is 50MP. Those are the same megapixel counts Flipkart lists for the V70.

Of course, megapixels do not tell the whole story. vivo may have changed the sensors or the processing. But we have not seen a tested review yet, so we cannot say the photos are better.

What Else Rs 63,000 Buys This Week

This launch landed in the middle of the festive sales. As a result, the V80 faces discounted flagships on day one.

First, the Xiaomi 17 is Rs 59,999 on Amazon. It launched at Rs 89,999 and has a flagship chip. We covered the conditions in our Xiaomi 17 Amazon sale price guide.

Second, the Galaxy S25 with 12GB and 256GB was listed at about Rs 67,000 on Amazon when we checked on 9 October. It runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite, so it is far quicker. However, its battery is much smaller.

Third, the Pixel 11 is Rs 75,999 on Flipkart without an exchange. Our Pixel 11 Big Billion Days guide explains how it drops further.

In short, the V80 only wins this fight on battery size. On speed, it loses to all three.

Who Should Buy, Who Should Wait, Who Should Skip

Here is the verdict, and we will not sit on the fence.

Skip it if you play games or keep phones for four years or more. A mid-range chip with 8GB of RAM will age faster than a discounted flagship. For most buyers, therefore, this is the wrong phone at this price.

Buy the vivo V80 if battery life and a slim body matter more to you than anything else. Few phones this light carry 7,200mAh. Even so, pick the 256GB model, because 128GB is too little at Rs 62,999.

Wait if you like the phone but not the price. The V70 shows how vivo prices move in shops and sales. We would look again at Rs 55,000 or less for the 256GB model.

Buy the V70 instead if you want this exact look and camera set. It costs Rs 10,000 less for the same storage. Just note that Flipkart’s stock looked thin.

Finally, the bank cards behind the 10% cashback are not confirmed. So check the final checkout price on 13 October before you decide.
