The vivo X Fold 6 launched in India on 6 October at Rs 2,19,999. That is Rs 70,000 more than the X Fold 5 cost at launch last year.

So this is not a normal yearly update. It is one of the biggest price jumps we have seen on any phone in India this year. Meanwhile, one key spec has actually gone down.

Below, we cover the confirmed price, what is new, what got worse, and how it stacks up against Samsung and Google. Then we say plainly who should buy it.

Last updated 8 October 2026. We have not tested this phone. Every number links to its source.

The Short Version

  • Price: Rs 2,19,999 for the only model, with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
  • Available: pre-booking is open now. Sales start on 13 October.
  • Best bit: a 6,900mAh battery and a 200MP ZEISS main camera in a 4.4mm body.
  • Catch: it costs Rs 70,000 more than the X Fold 5, yet RAM drops from 16GB to 12GB.
  • Rival price: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with 512GB is Rs 1,94,999 on Flipkart.
  • Our call: wait. Most buyers should skip it at this price.

vivo X Fold 6 Launched in India: Price and Sale Date

The phone comes in one version only. It has 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and it costs Rs 2,19,999, Digit reports.

You can pick from two colours, Nebula Teal and Prism Black. Pre-booking opened on launch day, and sales begin on 13 October, TelecomTalk confirms.

You can buy it from vivo’s India store, Amazon, Flipkart and partner shops, according to MobiGyaan.

The Launch Offers

There are offers, but read them carefully. In shops, vivo lists up to Rs 26,400 in instant bank cashback and no-cost EMI for up to 30 months. There is also an exchange bonus of up to 12%.

Online, the exchange bonus is up to 10%, and no-cost EMI runs up to 24 months. In addition, buyers get three months of Google AI Pro.

If you get the full cashback, the price falls to Rs 1,93,599, by our maths. However, “up to” matters here. No source we read says which cards earn the full amount.

The Rs 70,000 Jump, Explained

Last year, the X Fold 5 arrived at Rs 1,49,999 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, as GSMArena reported at the time.

Therefore, the new phone costs Rs 70,000 more. That is a rise of about 47% in one generation.

We also got this one wrong. Our pre-launch X Fold 6 guide quoted early estimates of Rs 1,29,999 to Rs 1,59,999. The real price is Rs 60,000 above the top of that range.

vivo has not said why the price rose so much. Phone prices are climbing across the board this year, though, and we explained the causes in our piece on why smartphone prices are rising.

What Is New

To be fair, this is a big hardware upgrade. Here is what changed from the X Fold 5.

  • Battery: 6,900mAh, up from 6,000mAh. That is huge for a foldable.
  • Main camera: a 200MP ZEISS sensor replaces last year’s 50MP one.
  • Chip: the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition replaces the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
  • Software: OriginOS 7 Fold, based on Android 17.

The screens are about the same size as before. The inner one measures 8.02 inches and the cover screen 6.51 inches. Both run at 120Hz and reach up to 5,000 nits, according to MobiGyaan.

The body is still very thin. It measures 4.4mm open and 9.4mm closed, and it weighs 228g in black or 235g in teal.

In addition, it carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water. It also supports 40W wireless charging.

The Catch: You Pay More and Lose RAM

Here is the part the launch posters skip. The X Fold 5 had 16GB of RAM. The X Fold 6 has 12GB, and India gets no 16GB option.

RAM is what keeps apps open in the background. On a foldable, that matters more than usual, because you often run two or three apps side by side.

Will 12GB feel slow? Probably not today. However, you are paying 47% more and getting 25% less memory. On a phone you may keep for years, that is a poor trade.

Charging speed has also dipped. The X Fold 5 charged at 90W, while the new phone tops out at 80W. That said, the bigger battery matters far more.

Finally, the body is a touch thicker than last year’s 4.3mm and 9.2mm. You will not notice it, but it is not thinner either.

How It Compares With Samsung and Google

At Rs 2,19,999, the vivo is no longer the value foldable. It now costs more than its two best-known rivals.

The Samsung prices below are from Flipkart’s listings on 8 October. The Pixel price is the launch price reported by Esquire India.

| | vivo X Fold 6 | vivo X Fold 5 | Galaxy Z Fold 8 | Pixel 11 Pro Fold |

|—|—|—|—|—|

| Price, 512GB | Rs 2,19,999 | Rs 1,49,999 at launch | Rs 1,94,999 | Rs 1,86,999 |

| RAM | 12GB | 16GB | 12GB | Not confirmed by our source |

| Battery | 6,900mAh | 6,000mAh | Not checked | Not checked |

| Wired charging | 80W | 90W | Not checked | 30W |

| Main camera | 200MP | 50MP | Not checked | Not checked |

We left some boxes as “not checked” on purpose. We only print numbers we have read at a source ourselves.

Even so, the price row tells the story. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is Rs 25,000 cheaper for the same RAM and storage. The Pixel is Rs 33,000 cheaper.

Samsung also has far more service centres in India. For a folding screen, which is the part most likely to need repair, that counts.

Should You Buy It?

Here is our view, and we will not sit on the fence.

Buy it if battery life is your top need in a foldable, and money is not a worry. A 6,900mAh cell in a 4.4mm body is special. Nothing else in the table is confirmed to match it.

Wait if you like the phone but not the price. First, check which bank cards give the full Rs 26,400 cashback. Then wait for independent reviews of the camera and battery. Foldable prices also tend to soften after the launch window.

Skip it if you want the best deal. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 costs Rs 25,000 less with the same memory. Similarly, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold saves you Rs 33,000.

Skip it too if you own an X Fold 5. You already have more RAM and faster charging. A bigger battery and a sharper camera are not worth Rs 2,19,999.

For most readers, therefore, our advice is simple. Do not pre-book. Wait for reviews and a real price cut.

Quick Answers

Sales start on 13 October 2026. Pre-booking is already open on vivo’s store, Amazon and Flipkart.

Is it more expensive than the X Fold 5?

Yes, by Rs 70,000. The X Fold 5 launched at Rs 1,49,999 and had more RAM.

Is it cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 8?

The Bottom Line

The vivo X Fold 6 launched in India as a better phone at a much worse price. Its battery and camera upgrades are real. However, Rs 70,000 more for less RAM is too much to ask.

So our verdict is to wait. If the price drops near Rs 1,90,000 without conditions, it becomes worth a serious look.

Several things are still unknown. vivo has not said how many years of updates the phone will get, at least in the sources we read. Nobody has published independent battery or camera tests yet either.

Finally, the exact card terms behind the Rs 26,400 cashback are not public. Check the final checkout price before you pay.
