Is the Galaxy Z Flip 8 Really Better Than the Z Flip 7? The Truth You Need to Know
Galaxy Z Flip 8 vs Z Flip 7 with a Rs 19,000 gap on Amazon. We compare price, chip, cover screen and battery, then say who should buy which.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 vs Z Flip 7 choice comes down to one number this week. On Amazon, the two flip phones sit Rs 19,000 apart.
That gap matters because Samsung changed very little. The screens, the cameras, the battery and the charging speed are all carried over from last year.
So this piece answers one question. Is the new Flip worth Rs 19,000 more, or is last year’s phone the smarter buy?
The Short Version
- Price today: the Flip 8 is Rs 1,14,999 and the Flip 7 is Rs 95,999, both on Amazon for the 12GB + 256GB model.
- What is the same: both screens, all three cameras, the 4,300mAh battery, 25W charging and the IP48 rating.
- What is new: a faster 2nm chip, a body that is 8g lighter, a less visible crease and a cover screen that runs full apps.
- Buy the Flip 7 if: this is your first flip phone and you want to stay under Rs 1 lakh.
- Buy the Flip 8 if: a card offer cuts the gap to under Rs 10,000, or you will live on the cover screen.
- Skip both if: you need a full day of heavy use from one charge.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 vs Z Flip 7: Price in India
Samsung launched the Flip 8 at Rs 1,24,999 for 256GB and Rs 1,44,999 for 512GB. That was Rs 15,000 more than the Flip 7, which arrived at Rs 1,09,999 a year earlier.
Since then, both prices have moved. Smartprix now tracks the Flip 8 at Rs 1,14,999 on Amazon and Croma, a price that last changed on 30 September.
Meanwhile, the Flip 7 is Rs 95,999 on Amazon. However, Flipkart and Croma still list it at Rs 1,09,999, so the store you pick matters a lot.
| | Galaxy Z Flip 8 | Galaxy Z Flip 7 |
|—|—|—|
| Launch price (256GB) | Rs 1,24,999 | Rs 1,09,999 |
| Amazon price today | Rs 1,14,999 | Rs 95,999 |
| Drop from launch | Rs 10,000 | Rs 14,000 |
| Chip | Exynos 2600 (2nm) | Exynos 2500 (3nm) |
| Weight | 180g | 188g |
| Battery and charging | 4,300mAh, 25W | 4,300mAh, 25W |
| Updates until | July 2033 | July 2032 |
In other words, the gap has grown since launch. It was Rs 15,000 in July, and it is Rs 19,000 now.
The Sale Has Not Made the Flip 8 Cheaper
Here is the part most deal posts miss. The Flip 8 was a better deal before the Amazon Great Indian Festival began.
In late September, Digit reported a Rs 14,000 card discount plus a Rs 10,000 coupon on Amazon. Together, they took the phone from Rs 1,24,999 to Rs 1,00,999. That coupon ended on 27 September.
After that, the sticker price fell to Rs 1,14,999. Digit then listed up to Rs 9,549 off with an Amazon Pay ICICI card, or Rs 4,000 off with HDFC and Axis cards.
As a result, the best price in that report works out to about Rs 1,05,450. That is roughly Rs 4,450 more than the September offer. Still, card offers change daily, so check the live page before you pay.
Performance: The One Real Upgrade
The chip is the biggest change. In India, the Flip 8 runs the 2nm Exynos 2600, while the Flip 7 uses the 3nm Exynos 2500.
Smartprix tested the same chip in the Galaxy S26. There, it was about 30% faster in single-core and 28% faster in multi-core than the Exynos 2500.
However, a slim flip phone cannot hold that speed for long. The same site’s Flip 8 review found that gaming performance drops off in longer sessions.
For WhatsApp, Instagram, Maps and the camera, you will not feel the difference. Therefore, the chip alone is not a reason to spend Rs 19,000.
Design and Cover Screen
On paper, the bodies are nearly twins. The Flip 8 weighs 180g against 188g, and it is 6.1mm thin when open against 6.5mm.
The crease is the change you will actually see. Smartprix’s reviewer called it noticeably less visible than on older Flips, although you can still feel it under your thumb.
Both phones have the same 4.1-inch cover screen. The difference is software. On the Flip 8, the cover screen has an app drawer, quick settings and a full notification shade out of the box.
On the Flip 7, you need Good Lock to get close to that. The Flip 7 is due to receive One UI 9, as our One UI 9 India rollout guide explains. Even so, Samsung has not confirmed that every cover screen feature will come with it.
Camera and Battery: Nothing Has Changed
Both phones use a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP selfie camera. Neither has a zoom lens.
Similarly, the battery is the same 4,300mAh cell with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. In the Smartprix review, the Flip 8 lasted five to six hours of screen time under heavy use.
A full charge took roughly one hour and 40 minutes. That is slow for a phone above Rs 1 lakh. For comparison, our Galaxy S26 Ultra vs S25 Ultra verdict shows how much faster Samsung’s slab flagships now charge.
Both phones also share the IP48 rating. So they survive a dunk, but fine dust remains a risk.
Which Should You Buy?
Buy the Flip 7 at Rs 95,999 if this is your first flip phone. You get the same screens, the same cameras and the same battery for Rs 19,000 less. For most buyers, this is the one I would pick.
Buy the Flip 8 in two cases only. First, if your card brings the gap under Rs 10,000. Second, if you plan to use the phone folded most of the day, because its cover screen is clearly better.
Wait if you can hold on for a few weeks. The Flip 8 has already touched Rs 1,00,999 once. Since it happened once, it can happen again.
Skip both if you own a Flip 7 already, or if you are a heavy user. Six hours of screen time will not carry you through a long day. In that case, a slab flagship or a book-style phone like the vivo X Fold 6 suits you better.

Where is the Z Flip 7 cheapest in India?

The Bottom Line
In the Galaxy Z Flip 8 vs Z Flip 7 contest, the newer phone is better, but only slightly. It is faster, a little lighter, and its cover screen finally works like a small phone.
Even so, none of that is worth Rs 19,000 to most people. At Rs 95,999, the Flip 7 is the flip phone I would buy today.
A few things are still unknown. Sources disagree on whether the Flip 8’s screens are brighter, with claims of both 2,600 and 3,000 nits. Also, nobody knows how long the Flip 7 will stay at Rs 95,999, or whether the Rs 1,00,999 Flip 8 offer will return before Diwali.
