Apple October 28 Event: Will You Pay More Money Now?
The Apple October 28 event is confirmed, with a touchscreen MacBook Pro tipped. See the IST time, India prices and whether to buy a Mac now or wait.

The Apple October 28 event is now official. Apple has invited press and creators to an all-day “Pro and Tell” launch in Los Angeles next Wednesday, and the tagline points straight at new Macs.
That matters to Indian buyers right now. Apple raised Mac and iPad prices in India by up to Rs 1 lakh in June, so anyone planning a laptop for Diwali has a real choice to make: buy today, or wait eight days.
This guide covers what Apple has confirmed, what is still a leak, when you can follow it in IST, and whether your next Mac will cost you more.
The Short Version
- Date: Wednesday, 28 October, in Los Angeles. Apple calls it “Pro and Tell”.
- Time in India: Press releases are expected at 10am Pacific, which is 10:30pm IST.
- Expected products (leaks): OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro, an M6 14-inch MacBook Pro, an M6 iMac and an OLED iPad mini.
- Price risk: The touchscreen MacBook Pro is tipped to cost more than today’s model. India prices are already far higher than last year.
- Our advice: If you want a MacBook Pro, wait for 28 October. If you want a MacBook Air, the event changes little.

What Has Apple Confirmed for the Apple October 28 Event?
Very little, on purpose. Apple has confirmed the date, the city and the “Pro and Tell” name through its invites. Apple’s Greg Joswiak also teased it on X, according to GSMArena.
However, Apple has not named a single product. Everything about the hardware comes from reports, mainly Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. He wrote on X that Apple is inviting media to an “all-day product launch experience” for touch-screen MacBooks, the iPad mini and M6 Macs.
So treat the product list below as strong leaks, not facts. We will update this post when Apple publishes its announcements.
What Time Is the Apple October 28 Event in India?
This is not a classic keynote. Reports say Apple will post press releases and videos online, then run hands-on sessions for media in Los Angeles.
According to The Next Web, the press releases are expected at 10am Pacific Time. Los Angeles is still on daylight saving time on 28 October. That means the news should land at about 10:30pm IST on Wednesday, 28 October.
Apple has not confirmed a livestream. So the best places to check that night are Apple’s Newsroom and the Apple India website, where new products and India prices usually appear within minutes.
Which New Macs Are Expected at the Apple October 28 Event?
Four products keep showing up across the reports. Here is what each one is tipped to bring.
Expected product | What is new (reported) | Status |
|---|---|---|
MacBook Pro 14 and 16-inch | OLED touchscreen, Dynamic Island, lighter body, M5 Pro or M5 Max | Leak |
MacBook Pro 14-inch (M6) | M6 chip, same design as today | Leak |
iMac (M6) | M6 chip, same design | Leak |
iPad mini | OLED screen, better speakers, moved front camera | Leak |
The touchscreen MacBook Pro is the headline
This is the big one. It would be Apple’s first Mac with a touchscreen, after years of saying Macs did not need one. Macworld notes that the macOS 27.2 beta already includes touch-friendly elements, including in Safari.
Reports also say the new design is “significantly” lighter and a little thinner. Surprisingly, it may use M5 Pro and M5 Max chips rather than M6 versions.
The M6 models are a quieter upgrade
The M6 chip already debuted in the Mac mini in August. Macworld estimates, from Mac mini benchmarks, about 25% higher multi-core and about 10% higher single-core performance over the M5. So the M6 MacBook Pro and iMac are speed bumps, not redesigns.
Next comes the question most Indian readers care about: the bill.
Will You Pay More After the Apple October 28 Event?
Probably, yes, for the touchscreen model. Gurman has reported that touchscreen parts raise costs, so the new models are likely to cost a few hundred dollars more than current versions. Apple has not announced any price.
In India, the starting point is already painful. In June, Apple raised Mac and iPad prices across the board. GSMArena’s price table shows how big the jump was.
Model (India) | Before June | Now | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
MacBook Air 13 (16GB/512GB) | Rs 1,19,900 | Rs 1,49,900 | +25% |
MacBook Pro 14 (16GB/1TB) | Rs 1,89,900 | Rs 2,39,900 | +26.3% |
iMac (16GB/256GB) | Rs 1,34,900 | Rs 1,74,900 | +29.7% |
iPad mini (128GB) | Rs 49,900 | Rs 69,900 | +40% |
Mac mini (16GB/256GB) | Rs 59,900 | Rs 94,900 | +58.4% |
Apple’s only public comment was that it knows “this is not welcome news”. Reports linked the hikes to rising memory costs, and Apple India also dropped its old habit of pricing close to Rs 100 per dollar. We explained the wider memory squeeze in our piece on why smartphone and gadget prices are rising in 2026.
There is one useful clue. The new M6 Mac mini launched in India at Rs 99,900, only Rs 5,000 above the hiked M4 model. So the M6 MacBook Pro and iMac may arrive close to today’s prices. The touchscreen Pro is the model most likely to jump.
Should You Buy a Mac Now or Wait for the Apple October 28 Event?
It depends on which Mac you want. Here is our honest verdict.
- Want a MacBook Pro? Wait. Eight days is a short wait. Even if you skip the touchscreen model, the M6 version should match today’s price with a faster chip.
- Want a MacBook Air? Buy if the deal is good. No new Air is expected on 28 October. A festive sale discount on the current model is real money saved.
- Want an iMac? Wait. An M6 refresh is tipped, so a new iMac bought today could be last year’s chip within a week.
- Want an iPad mini? Wait. An OLED screen is a visible upgrade for a small tablet you will keep for years.
- Already own an M3 or M4 Mac? Relax. None of the leaks suggest a must-have upgrade for recent machines.
One more tip: older stock sometimes gets cheaper after a launch. However, Apple India rarely cuts its own list prices, so look at retailer and bank offers instead.
What About Apple’s Other October Launches?
This is Apple’s third product moment of the season. It follows the September iPhone event and a smart home showcase with HomeView and the HomePod mini 2.
Meanwhile, the foldable iPhone Duo goes on sale in India on 23 October, starting at Rs 2,99,900. If you are weighing Apple’s phone line-up too, read our breakdown of the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and Duo and our take on whether the iPhone Duo is worth it.
What to Watch for Next
Three things will decide whether this launch is good news for India.
- India prices on 28 October. The gap between US and India prices grew sharply in June. Watch whether the new Macs follow the same pattern.
- Shipping dates. Gurman has said on his Power On podcast that the touchscreen laptop could ship from 6 November. Apple has not confirmed this.
- The chip mix. If the touchscreen Pro really uses M5 Pro and M5 Max, buyers chasing the newest chip may prefer the M6 model instead.
This story is still developing. We will update this post with confirmed specs and India prices once Apple announces them.
Conclusion
The Apple October 28 event looks like the biggest Mac redesign in years, led by a touchscreen MacBook Pro. Yet the reality for Indian buyers is simple: Macs already cost much more than they did a year ago, and the most exciting model is tipped to cost more again.
So if a Mac is on your Diwali list, hold off for eight days unless you are buying a MacBook Air on a strong deal.
