iQOO 16 Is Confirmed for India: The Big Price Catch You Need to Know Now
The iQOO 16 India launch is confirmed, but no date or price yet. Here is what it may cost, how it beats the iQOO 15, and whether you should wait.

The iQOO 16 India launch is now official. iQOO India CEO Nipun Marya confirmed it on 9 October at India Mobile Congress 2026 in Delhi.
However, he gave no date and no price. iQOO only said the phone is “Coming Soon”.
That matters if you are shopping this week. The iQOO 15 has become costlier during the festive sales, and its replacement is now on the way. So this piece tells you whether to buy, wait or skip.
The Short Version
- Confirmed: the iQOO 16 is coming to India. iQOO said so on 9 October.
- Not confirmed: the launch date, the India price and the India specs.
- China price: CNY 5,999, which is about Rs 86,000 for 12GB + 256GB.
- Best bit: an 8,400mAh battery, up from 7,000mAh on the iQOO 15.
- Catch: the India price is tipped anywhere from Rs 86,999 to about Rs 1 lakh.
- My advice: do not buy the iQOO 15 at Rs 85,999 today. Wait.
iQOO 16 India Launch: What Is Confirmed
Only one thing is certain. My Mobile India reports that iQOO announced the phone at IMC 2026 without a launch date or a sale date.
In addition, iQOO has not confirmed the Indian model’s specifications. Everything we know comes from the Chinese version, which launched on 29 September.
Reports also disagree on timing. For example, Smartprix says current reports point to December 2026 or early 2027. Meanwhile, an earlier TelecomTalk report guessed the end of October. Neither date comes from iQOO.
The Specs That Matter
The Chinese iQOO 16 is a gaming flagship first. According to GSMArena’s launch report, it runs the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
Above all, the battery stands out. It is an 8,400mAh cell with 100W wired and 40W wireless charging.
The screen is a 6.85-inch Samsung M16 AMOLED with 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. It reaches 2,800 nits across the full screen.
On the back, there are three 50MP cameras. One of them is a periscope lens with 3x optical zoom. The selfie camera is 32MP.
Finally, the phone carries IP68 and IP69 ratings. It weighs between 222.5g and 229.8g, so it is a heavy phone.
The Catch: Nobody Knows the India Price
In China, the iQOO 16 starts at CNY 5,999. That converts to roughly Rs 86,000 for the 12GB + 256GB model. The top 16GB + 1TB version costs CNY 8,499, or about Rs 1.21 lakh.
However, a China price rarely matches the India price. So far, three different figures are floating around.
First, an unnamed leak quoted by TelecomTalk puts it at Rs 86,999. Second, tipster Yogesh Brar reportedly expects a starting price just below Rs 1 lakh. Third, Smartprix expects it to cross Rs 1 lakh.
None of these is official. Therefore, treat all three as rumours, not as a budget.
Still, the direction is clear. The iQOO 15 launched in India at Rs 72,999, as GSMArena noted. Even the lowest leak for the iQOO 16 is Rs 14,000 above that.
iQOO 16 vs iQOO 15: How It Compares
Here is the bigger surprise. The iQOO 15 is not a bargain right now either.
Smartprix tracks the iQOO 15 at Rs 85,999 on Amazon. Its price rose by about Rs 10,000 in the last month, and it last changed on 7 October. In other words, it went up just before the Great Indian Festival.
| | iQOO 16 (China model) | iQOO 15 |
|—|—|—|
| India price | Not announced | Rs 85,999 on Amazon |
| India launch price | Tipped Rs 86,999 to Rs 1 lakh | Rs 72,999 |
| Chip | Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 |
| Battery | 8,400mAh | 7,000mAh |
| Charging | 100W wired, 40W wireless | 100W wired, 40W wireless |
| Display | 6.85-inch 2K, 165Hz | 6.85-inch 2K, 144Hz |
| Weight | 222.5g to 229.8g | 215g |
As a result, the old phone now costs almost what the new one costs in China. That is the same pattern we saw when the OnePlus 15 sale price stayed Rs 9,000 above launch.
Rising memory costs are the likely reason. We explained that trend in our piece on why smartphone prices are rising in 2026.
Should You Wait or Buy Now?
Wait if you want an iQOO flagship and your current phone still works. Paying Rs 85,999 for the iQOO 15 makes little sense when its successor may land near the same price. Besides, you would get 1,400mAh more battery and a newer chip.
Buy the iQOO 15 now only if you find it close to its old Rs 72,999 price after card offers. At that price, it is still a fast phone with a 7,000mAh battery. Otherwise, hold on.
Skip the iQOO 16 if you want a light phone or the best camera. It weighs over 220g, and iQOO builds it for gamers first. Similarly, skip it if your limit is Rs 85,000, because the leaks suggest it may not fit.
Also, keep an eye on rivals. The OnePlus 16 may skip India entirely, which would leave the iQOO 16 with less competition and less pressure on price.
Quick Answers

How big is the iQOO 16 battery?
The Chinese model has an 8,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging. iQOO has not confirmed the Indian model’s battery.

The Bottom Line
The iQOO 16 India launch is real, and the phone looks strong on paper. Even so, the price will decide everything.
My advice is simple. Wait for the India price before you spend a rupee on either phone. If the iQOO 16 arrives under Rs 90,000, it is the one to buy. If it crosses Rs 1 lakh, the iQOO 15 becomes worth a look again, but only after a real price cut.
Three things are still unknown: the launch date, the India price, and whether the Indian model keeps the 8,400mAh battery. We will update this page when iQOO answers them.
