Undeniably we are entering an era of smart innovations where AI shapes a future full of endless possibilities, and Samsung has tried integrating it making a leap into the AI generation.
Apparently the New Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ are nothing much different than their predecessors but they do get a little bigger and brighter with a bag of AI tools packed into almost everything
DISPLAY AND FORM
The S24 and S24+ pack in 6.2 and 6.6 inches screens with slightly slimmer body and bezel. The Full HD+ screen, with Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED 2X and an adaptive refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz do get brightest at 2600 nits promising an anti glare layer but that doesn’t really get the excellent glare-reduction in sunlight.But the good things take time and Samsung has finally upgraded its 1080p screens Yes, the S24 Plus panel is now 1440p.
And the Flat edges have caught many eyes particularly resonating IPhone vibes. All this comes with dimming of always on display for battery enhancement and it gets better with widgets to do more for you when not actively using your device.
CAMERA SOFTWARE AND BATTERY
Of the very few changes to a fairly good camera system low-light images taken at 2x zoom now use a lossless crop from the the sensor, instead of being reverted to digital zoom. And now it also supports Ultra HDR image capture, not just that you can also edit your photos and share them to Instagram without losing the HDR. Apart from that The cameras haven’t changed much offering a 50-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel ultrawide, and an actual 3x telephoto zoom.
S24 series comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and Samsung’s own Exynos chips and yes you will get 6 years of OS upgrades.
The battery offset is seemingly gone. A bigger battery does need more power but the longevity of either models is same based on daily usage,pushing to 25 hours on active usage and easily double that on phased usage.
GENERATIVE AI AND ITS PRACTICAL
The neural processing unit in Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip lets you into the world of privacy-first Galaxy AI offering the most advanced intelligence on your device and Samsung assures that any of your data is not used for machine learning or targeting ads. Still you can opt for added privacy by going completely offline but the results might be slack.
Speaking of the AI tools it’s an impressive set of capabilities running throughout the system but that’s it. It doesn’t seem to come up as an unified purpose defined feature. Yet here it comes…
LIVE TRANSLATE
It’s a “two way real-time voice and text translations of phone calls” within the device and its native phone app. Yes it’s not perfect to the point where it can avoid those hilarious translations for a casual conversation but it comes to great help for more formal spaces like making reservations or getting information for people who don’t share a common language.
TRANSCRIPT ASSIST
Voice recordings now allows speech to text transcription with summarise and even translate recording features.It’s on-device and not a real time transcription but is relatively quick in its processing.
A similar feature is the NOTE ASSISTANT which could help you save time to organise and summarise.Not just that it comes with Crafting templates that not only streamline note-taking but also provide pre-made formats, coupled with captivating cover designs, ensures your notes are not just organized but stand out with its preview, making the process effortlessly engaging.
CIRCLE TO SEARCH
Circle to Search —an intuitive, gesture-driven marvel that revolutionized the way to navigate and explore.Now this may seem a leap into the integration of AI feature but its just debuted in the S24 rather it would be fair to count it a Google innovation which should come to higher end androids in due time.
Long-press on home button or navigation handle engages it then you can easily circle, highlight, scribble, or tap anything on the screen for instant, high-quality search results. Whether it’s spotting a cool landmark on a post or spotting a fun fact on YouTube Shorts, you can dive deeper without leaving the app. Thanks to generative AI, location-based searches offer comprehensive overviews with information from the web
IMAGE EDITING
The S24 Ultra’s AI takes photo editing up a notch, suggesting automatic image remastering and effortlessly removing distractions like shadows with just a tap in the gallery app. Want a quick improvement? Hit the Info icon.For hands-on edits, Generative AI lets you reframe, move, or delete elements, filling in seamlessly. Though some details might miss the finesse of Pixel 8’s Magic Editor still they have literally tried to cram AI into everything
And there’s more to count on like the CHAT ASSIST to help you with web page summaries get your grammar and tone checked add some relevant emojis or even a quirky idea to go about with your messages, of course there is much more than these few specified AI features but you get the gist-AI is coming to the perspective of potential usage in everyday life and this is indeed as I call it the debut of an AI genre in our lives.
